Privacy Policy

Link Preview Tool is built to test public link previews with as little personal data as practical. You can use the preview tester and OG generator without creating an account.
Notice At Collection
We collect the information needed to run the tool, enforce free preview limits, secure the backend, and process subscriptions. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

How The Preview Tool Works
When you test a URL, our server fetches that public page so it can read metadata such as title, description, image, favicon, canonical URL, Open Graph tags, and Twitter Card tags. We do not need your login credentials for the target website and you should not submit private, internal, or credentialed URLs.
Cookies And Local Storage
We use essential cookies and local storage only. These help the app remember the cookie notice, enforce the free preview allowance, display usage status, and unlock paid access after Stripe confirms checkout. After you accept the privacy notice, Firebase Analytics may also run to measure page views and product usage.
- Free limit cookie: an httpOnly cookie used to help count anonymous previews and prevent tampering with the daily allowance.
- Device quota storage: local storage and a same-site cookie used with browser signals to keep free preview counts consistent when an IP, VPN, or proxy changes.
- Paid access cookie: a signed httpOnly cookie set after successful Stripe checkout.
- Local display state: local storage for the cookie notice, usage meter, and subscription UI state.
We do not use ad cookies or cross-site tracking pixels for targeted advertising.
Payments
Stripe processes checkout, subscription billing, and payment details. We receive Stripe IDs, checkout status, subscription status, and the email address used for checkout so paid access can work. We do not store full card numbers.
Service Providers
We use service providers to operate the app, including Vercel for hosting and security, Stripe for payments, Firebase/Google for analytics after notice acceptance, and a PostgreSQL provider such as Neon when a database is configured. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.
Retention
Anonymous quota records are intended to support daily limits and security. Billing records are kept as long as needed for subscriptions, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal obligations. Public URL metadata is used to return the preview result and is not stored as account history unless a saved-history feature is added.
California Privacy Choices
California residents may have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain sensitive personal information uses, and receive non-discriminatory treatment for exercising privacy rights. Link Preview Tool does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To make a privacy request, email hello@linkpreviewtool.comwith the subject line "Privacy Request". We may need enough information to verify and process the request. If advertising, analytics, saved history, or API accounts are added, this policy will be updated to explain those uses.
Children
The service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
